Best Smartphones in India 2026: Top Picks by Budget and Use

Top selling smartphones in Indian Market

For most people, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the best Android phone in India right now, the iPhone 17 is the best-value iPhone, and the Motorola Edge 70 Pro is the best phone under ₹40,000. Camera-first buyers should look at the Vivo X300 Ultra and OPPO Find X9 Ultra, and battery-first buyers at the OnePlus Nord 6. Phone prices have climbed sharply in 2026 because of a global memory-chip shortage, so the price you pay may differ from the figures below.

This guide covers the best picks by budget and need, explains why prices are rising, and helps you decide whether to buy now or wait for the next wave of launches. Browse more in our Smartphones and Android sections.

This page is our smartphone hub: the one place where we keep our current picks by budget and by need. We recheck prices and revisit the picks every month, and the update log near the bottom shows what changed.

Best overall Android phone: Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the strongest all-rounder among Android phones in India. It pairs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip with a 6.9-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 5,000 mAh battery and a four-camera system led by a 200MP main sensor. Samsung also promises seven years of OS updates, which matters if you plan to keep the phone for years.

It isn’t cheap, and listed prices vary widely: about ₹1.22 lakh in some listings and ₹1,54,999 on 91mobiles’ October 7 list, depending on variant and retailer. Samsung does not include a charger in the box, so budget extra for one.

Best iPhone: iPhone 17, with a pricing caveat

Apple launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026 and, as part of the same reshuffle, raised India prices on older models. The iPhone 17 now starts at ₹99,900 for 256GB, up from ₹82,900. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 and the Pro Max at ₹1,79,900, while the 17 Pro models have been discontinued. Apple’s first foldable, the iPhone Duo, starts at ₹2,99,900.

For most buyers the iPhone 17 is still the sensible choice: a 6.3-inch 120Hz ProMotion display, two 48MP rear cameras and the A19 chip. It has a smaller battery (3,692 mAh) than most Android rivals, so charging habits matter. See more iPhone coverage on Tech Cing.

Best camera phones: Vivo X300 Ultra and OPPO Find X9 Ultra

These two are the camera-first flagships. The Vivo X300 Ultra (₹1,59,999) offers consistent colour across lenses and an optional ZEISS telephoto extender kit sold separately. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra (₹1,69,999) builds a 10x telephoto lens into the phone, so it needs no add-on, and has a large 7,005 mAh battery. Expect more natural colour from Vivo and a punchier, more contrasty look from OPPO.

Best flagship performance for the price: iQOO 15

If ₹1.5 lakh feels like too much, the iQOO 15 at ₹85,999 is a flagship-class option, and MySmartPrice’s October list rates it highly for camera and battery. Check the latest reviews first, because iQOO’s newer iQOO 16 is reportedly close to launch (see the section on waiting below).

Best foldable: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 series

The Galaxy Z Fold8 is a compact, passport-sized foldable with a 7.6-inch inner screen and a 4,800 mAh battery. The Fold8 Ultra steps up to larger displays, a 200MP main camera and a 5,000 mAh battery. Both run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Prices vary by listing, so expect to start around ₹1.75–1.80 lakh for the Fold8.

Best battery life: OnePlus Nord 6

The OnePlus Nord 6 (₹46,999) packs a 9,000 mAh battery, a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, a 6.78-inch 165Hz AMOLED display and 80W charging with the charger included. It also carries an IP69K rating. OnePlus promises four years of OS updates and six years of security updates.

Best mid-range gaming phone: POCO X8 Pro Max

The POCO X8 Pro Max (₹48,999) uses a MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chip, a 6.83-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 9,000 mAh battery and 100W charging. It posted flagship-level benchmark scores in 91mobiles’ testing. If you also play on consoles, see our Gaming coverage.

Best under ₹40,000: Motorola Edge 70 Pro

The Motorola Edge 70 Pro (₹39,999) has a Dimensity 8500 Extreme chip, a 6.8-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, a 6,500 mAh battery, 90W charging and a near-stock Android experience with few pre-installed apps. Its software support is shorter than some rivals: three years of OS updates and five years of security updates. It also lacks wireless charging and a dedicated telephoto lens.

Best around ₹30,000: Motorola Edge 70 Fusion

The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion (₹30,999) uses a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip with a 6.8-inch 144Hz AMOLED display and a 7,000 mAh battery with 68W charging. It is the all-rounder to pick if you want long battery life and clean software without paying flagship money.

Under ₹20,000 and under ₹10,000: what to know

The budget segments change fastest. 91mobiles’ under-₹20,000 lists named a different overall winner each month this summer, including the iQOO Z11x in June, the OnePlus N6 5G in July and the Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G in August, with the Lava Play Ultra and realme C83 5G also rated well for performance and battery. Prices and stock move quickly, so check a current list before buying. Budget phones are also where the price hikes hurt most (see below), so compare carefully and don’t assume last year’s price.

Why smartphone prices are rising in 2026

The main driver is a global shortage of memory chips, caused largely by demand from AI data centers. Counterpoint Research reported that smartphone prices in India rose by an average of 16% in the first half of 2026, with phones under ₹10,000 up by about 32%, and it expects memory prices to stay elevated until 2028. A separate Techarc study of 165 models found average prices up 7.9% between January and May, with phones under ₹10,000 up 17.6% (Outlook Business). The figures differ because the studies measure different things, but they point the same way. Some new launches are priced well above their predecessors: 91mobiles reports the iQOO 15 cost 24% more than the iQOO 13.

What this means for you: if you find a phone you like at a fair price, waiting for a price drop is unlikely to pay off.

How to choose the right smartphone

Should you wait for new launches?

A fresh round of phones is reportedly close. Reports suggest the OnePlus 16 and iQOO 16 are tipped for November 16, and the OPPO Find X10 and vivo X500 series are expected in India from late October into early November. Launch dates can change, and with memory costs rising, new models may cost more than the ones they replace. If your current phone works, waiting a few weeks is reasonable. If you need a phone now, the picks above are solid choices.
