After the, shall we say, less than stellar launch (and subsequent demise) of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the Galaxy S8 has arrived! And when we say arrived, we mean ARRIVED!
If you love living on the bleeding edge of technology then you are sure to love this phone. In case you hadn’t heard, here are the key specs which make this handset stand out from the pack.
While some may scratch their head at the 18:9 aspect ratio, it comes with its advantages. The main one being a beautifully tall infinite display. Where the previous Galaxy S7 came with an EDGE version which wrapped the screen around the sides, the Galaxy S8 includes this as the standard and only option.
However, the screen changes don’t stop there. Further racing ahead of its competition, Samsung have managed to cover more than 80 percent of the device’s front with a screen. That’s right – 80 percent!
We know what you’re thinking: If the screen covers so much of the front display, has it comes at the cost of a fingerprint scanner? Unlikely! However, it has been moved. Sitting at the back of the phone, the fingerprint scanner replaces what many see as the most comfortable option of scanning your thumb with a point mostly accessible only by your forefinger. Will this take a little bit of getting used to? Yes. Does it mean that you get to enjoy a beautifully big screen? Absolutely!
How Does It Run?
Smooth! That’s how. With a 2.3GHz octa-core processor sitting inside it running Android 7.0 (Nougat), your favorite apps and video are displayed with no delay. Of course, this power also improves the browser performance for sites like the Groupon Coupons page for Columbia or any flash heavy sites you enjoy viewing.
Time to up Your Selfie Game!
If you love nothing more than sharing selfies on Instagram and the like, then the Galaxy S8 is the phone for you. In place of upgrading the rear camera (still sitting at an impressive 12 megapixels), Samsung has graced the Galaxy S8 with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with a f/17 lens to boot, helping you to capture the best selfies on the market! Of course, this is before you even consider the inclusion of software powered auto-focus technology included in the camera’s app.
An Old Favorite
While every other device manufacturer seems to be removing the tried and true 3.5mm headphone jack, Samsung has worked its magic to keep it included in the device without pushing out the physical size of the phone by too much. What does this mean for device owners? No need to buy yet another adapter cable just to use a set of perfectly good headphones which they already own. While this can seem like a small inclusion, with charging cables changing all the time, knowing that you can use as many of your accessories as possible is great when considering the outright purchase price.
If you love phones as much as we do then the chances are that you are reading this article on the way to buying yourself the device! And to that, we say, who can blame you?!
